New Logo! New Look! New Conversations!
I am so excited about the progress I've already made in 2010. The "Conversations With Experts" is going along smashingly. Xander (webguy extraordinary!) designed a new logo for our
webinar series. What do you think of the logo?
We have had great participation in the three webinars we have already hosted: Fundraising 101; Foundations of Fiscal Management; and, Building Community Collaborations. Soon mp3s of all webinars will be posted on our website for downloading.
Our next session Secrets of Grantseeking will be packed with information. I will host the conversation on Tuesday, February 2nd at 10 PST. To register for this Free Webinar, click on the following link: https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/315146082

Social Media Resources for Nonprofit Organizations
I love twitter! People probably look at me and think I'm the most unlikely person to be connected to social media sites such as twitter. I've found however that they provide a plethora of resources, research and innovative approaches to both philanthropy and the work of nonprofit organizations.
In the last day or so I've come across several interesting articles that you might find illuminating. I could have been one of those olden day monks scribing text forever, or living underground in a musty library. Research to me is the most exciting part of my job. Well, next to seeing lives impacted by the good work done by nonprofits, but I digress.
Nowadays, I can sit at my computer and read through my twitter stream http://twitter.com/mamapigeon or my google reader account http://www.google.com/reader and come across very cutting edge articles. Here are a sampling of the things I've been reading in the last couple of days:
Involvement of Youth in Nonprofit Work: First Coast nonprofit groups get young people involved

Do What Foundations Say~Not What they Do: Study Says Few Foundations Use Data to Evaluate Themselves
http://philanthropy.com/news/updates/10374/study-says-few-foundations-use-data-to-evaluate-themselves
Safety Net Programs: LaDonna Pavetti, Director of Welfare Reform and Income Support, on the Impact of the Recession and the Recovery Act on Social Safety Net Programs

New Ventura Chapter AAGP (American Association of Grant Professionals)
I like to think that I'm up on technology, and for the most part I am! I have several twitter accounts, an awesome facebook account (my fan page is not quite as awesome as it should be), I'm delving into the world of linked in, and creating long lasting connections through the Web 2.0. However, my attempts at blogging have been woefully lax. I have managed to figure out Google Reader and truly believe that it is Google's world--we are just all living in it.
This blog will concern all things cutting edge in the philanthropic community. I'm in love with Social Entrepreneurship, new connected philanthropic giving, social media as a fundraising tool et al. I will be bringing online free training webinars in the very near future. If you have ideas, please email me!
Ventura Chapter AAGP
Last Thursday I was elected President of the new Ventura Chapter of AAGP. I'm excited about this new group of grant professionals meeting on a regular basis. The chapter will focus on professional development, mentoring, training and bringing credibility to our industry. Check out AAGP at www.grantprofessionals.org If you are in the Ventura/Santa Barbara region, come join our chapter!!
